ORAL PATHOLOGY

The oral cavity is a site where tissues can be exposed to different diseases. Some of these diseases can present unique clinical features. These features help the clinician to determine diagnoses and treatment with reliance.

A patient may require an oral exam and pathology evaluation under the following conditions:

  • When a lesion is present in the tongue, gums, roof of the mouth, floor of the mouth, lips, neck, and face.
  • If there are changes in color: sometimes lesions may have different colors red, white, yellow, pigmented.
  • If there are changes in size: some lesions may change with time. Increase, decrease in size or simply it may remain stable.
  • If there are symptoms: lesions may be painful.
Most of the times these lesions are benign. However, some lesions may become more aggressive. This is why an examination under the microscope to have a definitive diagnoses and timely treatment is very important.

ORAL SEDATION

Don’t allow the fear to prevent you from getting the procedure you need and can be entitled to. Dr. Abril offers oral sedation for patients that are afraid of getting surgical procedures, whether you feel fear of needles or perhaps you feel like your teeth are very sensitive, or you don’t get numb easily with most the numbing agents.

Therefore, oral sedation may be the right choice for you. The aim of this approach is to make you feel more relax and easy at the time of the dental/oral surgical procedure.

After an evaluation, Dr. Abril can determine if oral sedation can be used during your dental/oral surgical procedure. Please contact us to evaluate if this sedation is the right treatment for you.

ORTHODONTIC ASSISTANCE

Dr. Abril provides orthodontic assistance to referring doctors or patients. Frenectomies and Canine exposures are among the common procedures performed to enhance the results of orthodontic treatment.

EXTRACTIONS

A dental extraction is necessary for multiple reasons:

  • Decay teeth.
  • Supernumerary teeth or extra teeth.
  • Severe periodontal disease.
  • Fractured teeth.
  • Orthodontic treatment.
  • Impacted teeth (wisdom teeth).

In some occasions dental extractions can generate anxiety. However, this is a simple treatment that is performed under the application of local anesthetics and in some cases (wisdom teeth) with sedation.
